GA North: People stranded in front Of NIA office at Amamorley.

BY IG-TECH MEDIA NETWORK Reporter There is no sign in sight of an end to the long queues being experienced at the various National Identification Authority (NIA) centers by Ghanaians for the Ghana card registration and collection. This is because everybody is in a rush to get their Ghana card in order not to beat the deadline of March 31, 2022 for the Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) re-registration exercise across the country which requires the use of the Ghana Card. At Amamorley in the Ga North Municipality the IG-TECH MEDIA NETWORK had visited to find out whether the daily long queues had eased, it turned out that the story still remained the same as the queues had even become longer. It was also observed that there was no provision for shelter or chairs for the people to comfortably sit and wait for their card to be registered as they stood in the scorching sun. BY IG-TECH MEDIA NETWORK Reporter MCE, third middle, right and GSA Team THE Jomoro Municipal Assembly in collaboration with THE Ghana Shippers' Authority inaugurate Elubo Freight Park in the Western Region, Friday January 28, 2022 at Elubo to end the recurrent transit truck congestion and haphazard parking at the Elubo border. Built on a two-acre land with a truck capacity of 31, the Elubo Freight Park is expected to make the nation’s western transit corridor attractive to businesses that haul goods to Cote d’Ivoire and beyond. Initiated and funded by the GSA with support from the Assembly, it has 12 dormitory facilities for drivers and their mates to rest, 40 toilets and bathrooms, laundry, a mosque, and six offices. BY IGNATIUS AWUAH TANOE BLAY Dr. Godwin Asamoah Ahiakwao - Optometrist A senior optometrist at the Ga North Municipal Hospital, Dr Godwin Asamoah Ahiakwao says chronic redness detected in the eyes of children could be a symptom of congenital glaucoma which must be given urgent medical attention. Congenital glaucoma, also known as childhood glaucoma, is a birth defect that damages the optic nerve and can lead to an irreversible visual loss (blindness) of the child. Consequently, he warned nursing mothers to desist from the use of local herbs, water, salt or breast milk in the eyes, “rather seek immediate treatment at the hospital.” Speaking in an interview with the IG-TECH MEDIA NETWORK on childhood blindness, Dr Ahiakwao, said Childhood blindness had become known to be prevalent among children across the world with an estimated 1.4 million children worldwide suffering from the disease.
