Sad news hit in the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroon as stampede caused the lives of fans, 6 dead and more than 40 hospitalised. "The incident happened as supporters struggled to troop into the stadium to cheer their teams", an official said Monday. Naseri Paul Biya, governor of the central region of Cameroon said, "The here could be more casualties. Ministry of Education: Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum restores trimester system

Dr Adutwum, Education Minister The ministry of education has retreated the semester-based system to the normal three terms. The decision came by yesterday after meeting with stakeholders of education. Basic school academic calendar for the year for kindergarten, primary and junior high school begins January 18 to April 14, 2022 for first term. Vacation is between April 15 to May 9, 2022. The Second term starts May 10 to August 18, 2022 and vacates August 19 to September 12, 2022. The third term is between September 13 to December 22, 2022. The students are to spend 14 weeks in school. This was revealed in a press release by Felix A. Baidoo, Pres Secretary, January 21, 2022.

VRA ends Akosombo Dam water spillage

  Akosombo Dam The Volta River Authority has brought an end to the Akosombo Dam water spillage that have affected and displaced many people and their communities. The statement was a release issued by the Corporate Affairs and External Relations Unit of VRA, October 30, 2023 in Accra.  According to the statement, VRA is committed to continuing its relief and rehabilitation efforts until lives and livelihoods are restored. They also commended various government agencies and stakeholders for their support to the impacted communities. The Akosombo Dam water spillage started by the Volta River Authority (VRA), Septem ber 15, 2023.  The measure was taken to safeguard the dam from potential hovering. The increased water flow in the Volta River has unfortunately led to flooding in low-lying areas along its course, impacting communities such as Mepe, Battor, Sogakope Mafi, Adidome, Ada, and others.
