Accra: Ministry for Works and Housing swear-in new board Members for Tema Development Corporation (TDC)
The Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye Bataman MP has swon-in 7 board members appointed by President Nana Addo Dwankwa Akuffo Addo for Tema Development Corporation (TDC), January 25, 2022. The swear-in happened in the ministry conference hall.
The mandate of the board is to provide strategic direction and guidance to TDC in its planning and policy implementation.
"TDC over the years was exhausted it's mandate to provide accommodation for those engaged in economic activities", the Minister said.
"Subsequent to that the government in 2017 converted TDC from a corporation to a Limited Liability Company to expand its mandate to operate beyond the Tema acquisition area".
According to Hon. Asenso-Boakye, TDC was established in 1952 with it sole responsibility to plan and develop about 63 square miles of public land for various kind of cases and also manage the township (Tema) that had been created and provide accommodation for those engaged in economic activities.
The Minister urged the new board members to work hard as government and the ministry expect more from them.
TDC is to provide affordable housing units through private sector investment approach to meet low middle income Ghanaian with tax exemptions.
