California Secretary of State and Ga North Municipal Assembly agree for mutual diplomatic relationship

The Ga North Municipal Assembly and the State of California have agreed for a mutual diplomatic relationship that will benefit the two parties.

The strong ties consist of capacity building in the areas of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), talent discovery, Visa acquisition and graduate study programmes.

The Secretary of  State for California, Her Excellency Dr Shirley Nash Weber, Wednesday November 22, 2023 visited the Ga North Municipal Assembly as part of her itinerary in Ghana.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Simons Sekyim during a speech stated that, the Ga North Municipal Assembly and the Secretary of State for California have come to work together for economic and social ties for the promotion and development of the Ga North Municipality.

"It is a high privilege to have the Secretary of State for California, Her Excellency, Dr Shirley Weber in our midst. Her visit to the Ga North Municipal Assembly is a great deal for the Assembly and the Municipality. It will breathe economic, education and social benefits", he said. 

"Among the benefits are a good diplomatic ties where capacities in the area of Information and Communication Technology, talent discovery will be unlocked, visa acquisition process will be enhanced and graduate study programmes", Mr Sekyim added.

Mr Sekyim said transforming and making the municipality competitive is his priority and having a good relationship with the California Secretary of State is an essential record home.

Her Excellency, Dr Shirley Nash Weber, on her part said her office will collaborate with the Assembly to make sure their relationship will be a long one.

"Education is what has made me who I am today. I was born from a poor home of 6 children and I am the only one who have made it to the highest bench. Therefore, I don't play with education", she said.

"My office is going to work with your Assembly to support in the areas of need and create that enabling environment for each other", Her Excellency Weber added.

Mrs Shirley Weber is the First African American to occupy the office of Secretary of State for California in the USA and has served four terms as an Assembly Member representing California's 79th Assembly District.

She has also served as a member of the Standing Committee on Education, Higher Education, Elections, Budget, Banking and Finance. 

Apart of her tour she visited Chief Alhaji Bukari Hamidu Kabore's Palace at Fise where he pleaded with her Excellency to support him with scholarship for pupils in his community.

Among her entourage were her security personnel, a team from the Ga North Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Simons Sekyim.

Ga Traditional Council ban all forms of noise making in Ga State ahead Homowo Festival

Commission of Abensu Nursery project The Member of Parliament of Trobu Constituency, Honourable Moses Anim and the Municipal Chief Executive of Ga North Municipality, Honourable Simons Sekyim have on Tuesday January 23, 2024 commissioned the Abensu and New Achimota Presby Schools projects.
