California Secretary of State and Ga North Municipal Assembly agree for mutual diplomatic relationship

Her arrival was warmly welcomed by a team from the Ga North Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Simons Sekyim. The two officers' historical meeting was an initiative by the Municipal Chief Executive when they met at the California Parliament in the USA. Ga North Assembly to improve living standards of transport operators in the Municipality.

MCE engagement with transport unions The Municipal Assembly and the Ga North Department of Transportation have said to improve the welfare of individual drivers and transport unions in the municipality. The need was raised during a stakeholder consultative meeting with 73 transport unions and individual drivers at Ofankor Church of Pentecost Tuesday November 14, 2023 in Accra. The engagement in a forum discussed “The Draft Municipal Transport Policy for the Ga North Municipality” that seeks to reform and strengthen the existing transport operators unions and bring on board nonregistered member to join the scheme. According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable, Simons Sekyim, the reforms will benefit to individual drivers who have registered under unions in the municipality. In a press statement by the Assembly, her memorable visit will be touring the Ga North Municipality, precisely the Ayawaso Chief palace for a briefing of the Ayawa-Tree and the Shrine, the Bulk Supply and the Interchange at Pokuase, Saint Johns Grammar School, the Electoral Commission's office and the National Identification Authority (    NIA ) office.  

35 year old man Peter Boakye Yiadom allegedly kills himself

  35 year old man Peter Boakye Yiadom a drinking spot owner allegedly shot himself last Monday at Abofour,  Offinso  in the Ashanti Region, police source said.  Investigation of the incident is still ongoing. The deceased shot himself at the spot. His death is alleged was as a result of his mother who has passed on. The Ghanaian Times  gathered Yiadom, a father of four chil­dren, allegedly took his own life a week before the funeral rites of his late mother. A police source at Abofour mentioned to the  Ghanaian Times  that an investigation has commenced into the death, but did not give details. 5 people suffocate in Afram River

  Five people on board a boat crossing the Afram River to their farms have suffocated at Azietsikorpe in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District.   A rescue team on search for the sixth person is currently ongoing. According to Johnson Anglesinya, the Assembly member for the Gyata Electoral Area who confirmed the incident to 3news.com, added that six other individuals have been successfully rescued. The victims were part of a group of 12 hired to work on a farm across the Afram River. Last Wednesday evening, the farmers without life jackets, went on board on a boat with the believe that they will get to their destination on Thursday, November 9. Accidentally, they got drown in the river. While water levels have receded, the volumes in the Afram River remain high, posing a risk to boats, especially without proper safety measures. VRA ends Akosombo Dam water spillage

  Akosombo Dam The Volta River Authority has brought an end to the Akosombo Dam water spillage that have affected and displaced many people and their communities. The statement was a release issued by the Corporate Affairs and External Relations Unit of VRA, October 30, 2023 in Accra.  According to the statement, VRA is committed to continuing its relief and rehabilitation efforts until lives and livelihoods are restored. They also commended various government agencies and stakeholders for their support to the impacted communities. The Akosombo Dam water spillage started by the Volta River Authority (VRA), Septem ber 15, 2023.  The measure was taken to safeguard the dam from potential hovering. MP Ablakwa: GH₵2.86 million into Volta River Resettlement Fund by government not the purpose of the fund

MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa The North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has criticized government for allocating an amount of GH₵2.86 million into the Volta River Resettlement Fund to deal with the  disaster at Akosombo Dam spillage   which he restated that was not the purpose of the fund. According to him, the money was meant for compensation of people VRA owes them some years ago when they took their lands.  The MP also added that the money won’t be sufficient looking at the extent of damage caused as a result of the spilling of excess water from the Akosombo Dam.  "The disaster that has struck the flood-affected communities is so dire that a 'paltry’ GHS₵2.86 million cannot solve it", he said.
